Description

The second volume of a scrapbook collection complied by Celia (Janie) Jane Philips (nee Ceclia Jane Wood), the wife of Alfred Philips. Alfred Philips was the first President of Tulsa Junior College. The scrapbook is composed of newspaper clippings, handwritten notes, typed letters, invitations, programs, and newsletters.

This particular scrapbook spans from approximately 1969-1971 and includes topics such as the appointment of Tulsa Junior College regents by Governor Dewey Bartlett, the dedication and tour of TJC's campus, TJC open houses, the gifting of a computer by American Airlines to TJC, initial enrollment numbers and probable future enrollment numbers, TJC's budget requests and increases, initial and planned TJC degrees and programs, partnerships with other colleges and community organizations, local events, campus changes, and events held by TJC.

Janie also included some family mementos in these scrapbooks, including invitations to inaugurations, invitations to speak at other colleges, governors ball invitations, and an honor roll letter for her son, Glenn,
